I have some exciting news! I’m going to start a new series called This Month in Austin and at the beginning of each month, I’ll be sharing my top picks for events going on around town. This list will be a grouping of my favorite activities that range from shows and cooking classes, to bar events, festivals and more. I’m hoping this list will highlight some activities for you and give you easy access to general information and tickets.
So here we go!
NOVEMBER 2018:
November 2nd-11th: Wurstfest in New Braunfels
Wurstfest is an Oktoberfest celebration that shouldn’t be missed! Enjoy good food, dancing, carnival rides, games, special events and of course- all the sausage and beer.

Selena at Republic Square Park
Republic Square Park is located in the center of downtown Austin and will be hosting a movie night in the park and showing a crowd favorite, Selena. Grab your friends, blankets and snacks and head on down to enjoy.

November 9th-17th from 6-10pm
The Waller Creek Light Show
The event takes place along Waller Creek between 9th and 11th street. There are six new light-based art installations and a Creek Show Lounge near the newly renovated Symphony Square. You can enjoy interactive activities, the various light shows and live music.

Central Market Cooking Class {Westgate Location}: Seasonal Small Bites
I am all about these seasonal cooking classes! They are so fun and you learn skills that you can bring right on home. In this class, you’ll learn how to make seasonal small bites that range from Pumpkin Hummus with Spiced Naan to Pomegranate and Honey Ricotta Crostini. Yum!

East Austin Studio Tour
The East Austin Studio Tour is a self-guided art event that provides opportunities for you to meet various artists, see their creative spaces and view their work.

Austin Mac and Cheese Festival at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts
This event features mac and cheese from chefs all over the country. Your tickets get you access to all of the cheesey goodness, adult beverages and a vote towards your favorite dish.

November 11th from 12-3:30pm
The Austin Bloody Mary Festival at Fair Market
Swing by the Austin Bloody Mary Festival and enjoy Austin’s most innovative Bloody Marys and snacks from top restaurants and bars in town. Sip on drinks from Lustre Pearl, Hillside Pharmacy, South Congress Cafe and more. All proceeds benefit Boneshaker Project.

A Christmas Affair at The Palmer Events Center
This Junior League event brings together over 200 merchants from across the country and over 25,000 shoppers each year. Funds from the event benefit Coats for Kids, FIT-Food in Tummies and over 30 additional local non-profits. Get your holiday shopping pants on and help out a good cause!

Chandler and The Bings at Stereotype
Chandler and The Bings is a super fun local band that plays all of your favorite 90’s tunes. As you can guess, this always leads to one heck of a dance party. Swing on by Stereotype for a show you won’t forget.

Amy Schumer at The Long Center
If you’re looking for a little laughter in your life, check out Amy Schumer’s live show at The Long Center. She came to town last year and was all kinds of funny–I would see her again in a heartbeat!

Upstairs Circus: Harvest Series Project Social
Chose form over 25 awesome DIY projects, grab some drinks at the bar and spend a few hours crafting and socializing with friends.

The Brunch Boat
Jump on the brunch boat departing from Lady Bird Lake for two hours of music, food, drinks and an all around good time. Your ticket includes pizza from Via 313, tacos from One Taco, beer from Big Bend Brewing, Deep Eddy Vodka and so much more. Plus, enjoy a DJ or live music on the upper deck!

Texas Winos Wine and Music Tour from Austin to Fredericksburg and Luckenbach

The Annual Thundercloud Turkey Trot
A 5-mile run/1-mile walk on Thanksgiving Day that starts at The Long Center. The money raised from the event benefits Caritas of Austin.

The 52 Annual Zilker Tree Lighting at Zilker Park
Bring the family to Zilker Park for their 52nd annual tree lighting ceremony! The event features local entertainment, food and live music.

Driskill Holiday Tree Lighting
This is the annual lighting of The Driskill tree. Stop by for a festive evening filled with holiday music, caroling, drinks at the bar and some Christmas ambiance.

Love Never Dies at Bass Concert Hall
Ok, I’m a major theater nerd, so you’ll see some shows thrown onto this list from time to time! Love Never Dies is written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and is the follow-up story to Phantom of The Opera. If you’re a theater fan, check this one out!
