You read that right! Get some home decor styling for free! How you may ask? Well here’s the 411.
After settling into our apartment, Ben and I decided that we wanted to brighten the living room up a little. I *ran* to West Elm and spent some time in the store messing around with different pieces, trying to find the most efficient way to add color to the space. After looking at 50+ things that we didn’t need, chatting with a few stylists and sampling some outdoor furniture that would in no way fit on our balcony, I settled on buying a few new throw pillows. Once I got home, I arranged the pillows in our living room and stepped back to admire the new design.
While I loved the overall look, my eyes instantly went to the 30 x 40 black and white print hanging about the couch. The new pillows were bright and airy and brought blue and yellow into a space dominated by black and white. I decided that the pillows were there to stay, but I wanted to see if there was a better art piece out there to compliment the space.
Our original piece was from Minted, so I ventured back to that site and started scrolling through their art section. No lie, I was immediately overwhelmed. Everything was gorgeous {which was half the problem}, but between the options of abstract vs. photography, light blue vs. dark blue, vertical vs. horizontal, I had no idea what would look best in the space.
Now insert the best design hack ever!
I quickly found out that Minted had an in house styling team that was readily available to help solve this very dilemma. So here’s what you do:
- You text 415-993-9255 a photo of your space
- They’ll respond back and ask some addition questions like budget and desired color pallet. You can also request a single piece of art, gallery wall design, etc.
- They’ll text you a few options from the site
- You’ll choose your top picks and they’ll render the space for you and send you back the images!
- If you decide that you like one, they’ll add it to your cart {with no obligation to buy} and give you a discount!
And this is all totally free which basically has my jaw on the floor because it makes the process of purchasing art so much easier!
Now before I show you our options, I did want to throw out one extra pro tip. Minted is a pretty expensive art site compared to what you’ll find at Target or Home Goods, but the art is 100% worth it. Minted is made up of a community of independent artists and designers that are located in all 50 states and across 96 countries. These pieces are gorgeous and unique and really help bring a space together. One thing that helped us save a little money was buying the print itself from Minted, but the frame elsewhere {we just bought a snap frame on Amazon}. Doing this will give you the piece you love, but at a much more affordable price.
Ok, onto the photos. So when I sent my photo to Minted my intention wasn’t to do a blog post, so the living room is a little disheveled, but you can get a good idea of how it works!

And that’s it! I’m still deciding on if I want to switch the art out, but I would love to get your opinion. Do you like the original black and white piece or would you opt for one of the new ones?
