Happy Friday friends! I’m still getting back into the swing of things after returning from our trip #thejetlagisreal but I’m so excited to get back on here and start blogging again!
I’m working on a travel guide for Iceland and Scotland {if you have any questions, please leave them below!}, but for now I wanted to share photos from our Flytographer shoot in Edinburgh!
If you all have followed me for a while then you know how much I 1. Love photos and 2. Love the Flytographer mission. Behind The Scenes:
So as we all know, Instagram is just a little snapshot of someone’s life…typically a very beautiful, *picture* perfect snapshot. See what I did there? In hopes of being a little more transparent, I wanted to give you all a quick BTS look at the photo shoot before showing you all the images!
We chose to do this shoot in Scotland because the backdrop was beautiful, but also because we heard that the weather in Iceland was very unpredictable. In hopes of having a nice day, we decided Scotland would be our best best! On the day of the shoot we were driving back from the small town of Callander, Scotland. The plan was to roll out of bed, do a little sightseeing on the way back to town, do an early check-in at The Hilton in Old Town Edinburgh and then quickly get ready for the shoot at 1pm. Ben had to iron his clothes and I needed to shower // curl my hair // put my face on.
When we arrived at the hotel, we found out that they couldn’t accommodate our early check-in request #majorbummer, so I went into a slight panic mode trying to figure out how to get ready. First stop was the lobby bathroom, an obvious choice, but after crawling around looking for an outlet, I realized that there wasn’t one. Thankfully one of the Hilton staff members let me camp out in a conference room to get ready. Ben quickly changed and went to hang out in the lobby {does anyone else wish they were a boy sometimes?!} and I awkwardly curled my hair in the reflection of a conference room TV.
After a few business folks popped their heads into the conference space, I decided to finish up my routine in the bathroom. I had all of my makeup propped up on the counter, my clothes were all disheveled as I dug through looking for my dress and I was just one big disorganized mess. Note to Self: Pack better.
Once I got my life together, I met Ben in the lobby we went to check our bags in with the front desk. Just as we were rolling up to store them, we found out that our room was ready lol. We quickly threw our things up there and headed out to the shoot.
We were both a little stressed // on edge after our stint at the hotel, but felt so much better once we met our photographer Jilli! She was so so sweet, very easy to talk to and we love how the photos turned out! Plus, strolling around town taking photos in some of Edinburgh’s most prominent areas was a really cool experience.
A few of my favorite shots are below and I hope you all enjoyed this little BTS look 🙂
