My friend Brittany and I just got back from a one night stay at Camp Lucy and boy, was that place a dream! I’ve been dying to check out Camp Lucy and their on-site restaurant Tillies for years now, so I was excited when we connected for a partnership!
If you’re unfamiliar, Camp Lucy is a premier luxury resort and wedding venue located on a 289-acre property nestled in Dripping Springs, Texas. The property is owned by Whit Hanks and his wife Kim and was actually named after Whit’s mother Lucy!
Britt and I drove through the front gates around 2pm and went right to check-in. We couldn’t wait to meet the team and start exploring.
While Camp Lucy has a variety of overnight accommodations including suites and standalone cottages, we were excited when they circled our room on the map and explained that we would be in their Treetop rooms which recently opened.
The second we cracked open the front door of our suite we were in awe of what we saw. The room was stunning and had gorgeous wallpaper and unique décor, a huge cozy bed and a balcony which overlooked a calming wooded area.
We dropped our bags and looked around, opening every cabinet and calling out when we saw something cool (does anyone else do that!?). Suddenly we both spotted a bottle of Camp Lucy red wine sitting on the desk along with sweet handwritten welcome note from the staff! We opened the bottle and cheers’d to our little staycation.
After we settled in we decided to check out the grounds! While you’re welcome to check out the sites on your own, there’s also tours and activities that you can sign up for such as a history and property tour (Whit and Kim are huge antique collectors and all of the buildings and decor have an incredible history), archery and axe throwing (awesome), guided fishing, hiking, yoga, animal feeding and even a vineyard experience
Our game plan was to check out the vineyard on our own, swing by and see the alpacas (eeeekkk!) and then grab a drink at Tillies before changing for dinner.
The afternoon went off without a hitch and we had so much fun checking everything out – the alpacas were definitely a favorite! That night, we got all dressed up, poured another glass of our Camp Lucy wine and then headed to Tillies for dinner.
Tillies has been on my “must try” restaurant list for years now and I couldn’t believe I was finally getting the opportunity to eat there! The space was insanely beautiful with large wooden doors that opened up to the most perfect dining area. We enjoyed some amazing apps (if you go you have to get the brussels sprouts), two entries and a dessert before calling it a night and heading back to the room.
We spent the rest of the night drinking wine on the balcony (wine was a common trend on this trip if you couldn’t tell lol) and then snoozing in the most comfortable bed! We woke up refreshed and ready to grab some breakfast and head back to Austin.
We had such a great time and I can’t wait to go back. If you’re looking for a good spot to staycation, I would highly recommend! It would be perfect for a girls trip or even a romantic getaway with your SO! Also, if you’re a bride-to-be, their wedding venues are amazing! 😉
Have you been to Camp Lucy before? What did you think?
