Happy Monday! I hope you guys had a great weekend! Britt and I just got back from a weekend in Houston – I’m actually working on a blog post about our trip now that I can hopefully share in a few days!
For now, I wanted to tell you allll about our dinner at Lutie’s last week! This restaurant opened like, a month ago maybe, and within minutes it was booked out for as far as Open Table would go. Brittany and I were bummed and figured we wouldn’t get a chance to visit before I moved. Thankfully she set an availability alert, because it rang last week and we were able to snag at 6:15 reservation.
Lutie’s is at The Commodore Perry Estate and, if you’re from Austin, you probably know it as a gorgeous wedding venue. Brittany actually did a staycation there earlier this year and I had been dying to go ever since I saw her photos. So needless to say, I was super excited when I heard they were opening up a restaurant!
The Experience
I would say that the experience of going to Lutie’s was really really fun. I knew the restaurant had a very classic upscale vibe, so I was really excited to dress up in something a little fancier than normal. We arrived around 6:15 and valeted (there’s no other option unfortunately – but it is free, I would just suggest bringing some cash for a tip) and then headed right into the restaurant.
We were originally seated inside which was fine – the interior is GORGOUS, like seriously so pretty, but we were really there for the views, so were kind of bummed about our seat. We were also right next to the door, so every time it swung open, we felt a warm breeze, got a glimpse of the cute outdoor tables overlooking the manicured lawns and could hear echo’s of laugher. Dramatic, but I really wanted to be out there lol. Thankfully after cocktails, a table opened up and we were able to switch to an outdoor seat!
The Menu
The weather was perfect and the drinks were delicious. I ordered the Indigo Kick which was vanilla infused vodka, blackberry basil shrub, honey, lemon and ginger beer. While there’s quite a hefty price tag on the drinks, I will say that they were worth it. They were healthy sized cocktails so 1-2 could get you through a whole dinner.
The menu is set-up to be sharable, so the server suggested 4-5 small plates to share between the two of us. We ordered the Sunchoke Falafel, Steelbow Artichokes, Lettuce/Grapefruit/Goat Cheese Salad, Marinated Beet and BBQ Scallops and then we tried the Bees Wax Creme Caramel for dessert. Everything was really fresh, tasty and actually seemed pretty healthy (their menu had meat, but I would say it was very seafood/veggie based). My favorite dishes were the falafel and artichokes for sure!
The Grounds
After dinner, we walked around the grounds and took some photos. The sun was setting and the lighting was perfect. I would 100% recommend going to Lutie’s at night – that 6:15-8:15pm slot in the summer is gold for pretty views and a unbeatable sunset.
Overall, I would say that it was a really great experience. It is quite an expensive dinner, so I would only suggest going for a fancy occasion or if you feel like splurging for the night! If you go, DM me and let me know what you think!
