A few days ago, my friend Lindsay and I went to Roosevelt Island to check out a new rooftop bar. This bar was at the top of The Graduate Hotel and was said to have a great view of the city. The hotel is pretty new, a few months old at most, so I still consider this spot to be a bit of a hidden gem.
If you’re coming to NYC or even if you live here and you’re looking for a new place to take in the skyline – this is the spot for you.
A Few Tips
- Getting to Roosevelt Island is a bit of a trek, but I wouldn’t call it inconvenient. There’s a train and a tram that both go straight there. The tram is actually pretty cool and a bit of a tourist attraction in itself – it’s the same cost as a train ride, but you can’t use your phone to pay (you’ll have to grab a MetroCard there). Once you arrive on Roosevelt Island, it’s only a few minute walk.
- If you’re going to the bar for sunset, I would suggest getting there 30 minutes early and staying 30 after it sets. The view before sunset, during sunset, and once the sun is down are all extremely Kodak worthy.
- They serve both food and creative cocktails at the bar (which is also gorgeous by the way). The food felt kind of overpriced for what it was, so I would suggest going for a drink and maybe a snack, but going somewhere else in the city for dinner!
