If you’re anything like me, you saw the flare jean trend coming back around and instantly pictured your middle school self. It was that early 2000’s year when bell bottoms made a surprising comeback and Limited Too was filled with peace signs and trendy boho pieces that everyone had to have.
I think it’s safe to say that back then, while the flare was fun, it was also a bit too much – it took no prisoners’, dragging water and dirt into it’s hems and not letting go no matter how much stain stick your parents used.
But here we are, in 2021 seeing the flare coming back around. While we all may cringe a bit at the prospect and at the thought of damp ankles. I have to say — I kind of love how the style’s been revamped!

So while I was a little unsure at first, once I saw flares on the shelves of some of my favorite stores, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to try them on.
I found a few promising pairs here and there, but none of them fit quite right – they were too long or too short, too stiff or too loose. While I loved the overall style and silhouette, I couldn’t quite find the pair that I was picturing in my head, but I knew they were out there.
Then it happened, I walked into the Paige store and saw these Genevieve Flare Jeans hanging up on the front rack and ran into the fitting room to try them on. And spoiler alert – they were AMAZING!
These jeans are the perfect mix between being comfortable and structured. They hug your curves and have the prettiest blue hue, but also feel a bit like leggings. They run a little big and stretch throughout the day, so I found going down a size was best. I also saw they came in two lengths – I originally tried the longer ones on (34 1/2″) and had instant middle school flashbacks. Then I tried the 32″ and they fit like a glove on my 5’4 frame. They work with sneakers or even with a small heel and, for me, barley touched the ground.
Now I will say that these jeans are pricey, but I consider any pair of Paige denim to be an investment piece. Every time I purchase jeans at Paige, I have them for YEARS and they hold up so well in the wash.
I’ve worn these a few times now and I’m so happy with how they look and how well they pair with some of my favorite fall tops and jackets.
Final Sizing Advice
- Size down 1 size (I’m usually a 26 and I’m wearing a 25)
- If you are 5’4″ and under, go with the 32″ length
- If you are 5’5-5’6, I would pick a length depending on the type of shoes you tend to wear, If you’re a flats person, go with the 32″, if you’re a heels girl then the longer might be better!
- If you’re 5’6 and over, go with the 34 1/4″ length
