Hellooo and welcome to my crib! Ok, sorry, I’ve just always wanted to say that #growinguponmtv.
But for real, welcome to part one of my home tour! I’ve decided to split this tour up into sections so that it’s easier to navigate and find what you need.
Before I get started, I just wanted give you all a little background on the apartment! Ben and I moved into our first place together a little over two years ago. Due to a *crazy* recent rent increase, we decided to move when our lease was up. After searching around we found a new spot in the Clarksville neighborhood.
Most of the items we purchased for our first apartment fit into our new unit, but we did buy a few new things as well! Furnishing an apartment is one of my favorite things to do; I just love picking out decor, putting it all together and seeing the final product come to life.
Our overall style is very simple and modern. We love the black/grey/blue color scheme with pops of lush greenery and tobacco brown. We’re also all about having an efficient space with minimal clutter.
The dining room is one of my favorite areas in our new place, so I decided to kick off with that! All items that are still available are linked below and make sure to check out my past post Apartment Decor 101: The Ultimate List of Splurges and Steals for additional decor ideas!
DINING TABLE:
Our apartment is about 800 square feet which is actually around 100 square feet larger then our previous one. We’ve never owned a dining table, but when we saw the extra space in this unit we knew that’s what we wanted to fill it with. I went back and forth between a square and circular table, but in the end went with the circular one to save some space. We found this one on Wayfair and it was love at first sight! It was easy to put together and has the prettiest white glossy finish. Pro Tip: If you’re anticipating hosting larger groups, invest in a table that has a leaf. That way you can have it set for 2 or 4 on the daily, but you have the option to expand it when you’re having guests over!
CHAIRS:
The chairs we purchased from At Home, a home decor superstore that most *literally* has everything! We decided to look for chairs that had a little color to them since we went with a stark white table. Our overall color scheme has a lot of black/grays/blues, so these were perfect. We purchased these chairs directly from the store, so there was no assembly required. They’re sturdy and we love the dark grey cloth fabric!
RUG:
The rug was a last minute edition and Ben was actually against the faux cowhide lol but World Market was having a 30% off sale so I grabbed it just to “see how it looked.” After about 10 minutes of staring at it in its new home and assessing it from every which angle, we both agreed it was there to stay. Pro Tip: There is no need to spend a ton of money on a rug. There are hundreds of great options out there that sit at an affordable price point. If you can’t seem to find one, check out Rugs USA. I swear by them and love their products, price and customer service.
VASES:
The vases on top of the table are both from West Elm. I love mixing and matches pieces and seeing how they work together. The larger one was purchased recently and then the smaller one we got two years ago. We put some sand in the smaller one and a cute little fake succulent to bring some color to the space. Pro Tip: Mixing and matching your vases and small decor items can be a great way to bring some color and life into your space. Adding touches of green from real {or even fake} plants/succulents is also a nice way to keep your home feeling open and airy.

CONSOLE TABLE
Another Target find that I absolutely love! While we have a bar cart in the apartment, Ben has a pretty impressive collection of whiskey that wasn’t able to fit on there. He’s also into cigars and recently purchased a humidor, so I wanted him to have a space where he could put everything and display it for guests! As you all know, a one bedroom apartment doesn’t leave much room for a man cave, so we went for a “man wall” instead and bought him a sleek console table. He was able to fit everything up top and then ordered some Philips Hue smart lights for the back that we can control with our Google Home!
FRAMES:
UGH POOR MAN WALL. I really wanted to do a little photo wall and we honestly ran out of space, so Ben sacrificed the wall above the console table for our black and white prints *bless him.* We try to snap photos every time we travel and so the photos up there do mean a lot to us. I bought these frames for about $10 a piece from Michaels {it’s their Everyday Value brand and they’re amazing} and got these photos printed at Walgreens. I love that the frames have a mat so that the pictures themselves aren’t overwhelming.
And that’s the dining room! I’ll also be sharing our living room, bedroom, kitchen and balcony in the coming weeks! What do you all think? Do you have any other tips and tricks for decorating a small space?
